The kind of night you dream about

Friday night at Joe's Pub, we killed. Packed house. Truly amazing show.

How does Casino O'Fortune Cookie Productions follow a triumph? By going back to the show that started it all. Bigger and and even better than the first time. Here's a hint.

From the Voice Choices listing: "Trust that even while the clothes come off, their aim is true."

You know it's gonna be a good show when the Voice AND the Post tell you to come! And: Clams and Anita doing TWO brand new duets...Nasty and Jo debuting new numbers...and an outstanding live band doing the Elvis classics...AND Broadway Brassy killing not one but two songs...AND Gigi & Pop doing a new number in their first gig since winning a trophy at the Miss Exotic World Pageant! Are you kidding!? Joe's Pub, 11:30!

So, that's the Beatles, Brando, Christo and Clams

The fabulous downtown drag maven Linda Simpson posted some fun pictures in her online magazine from Saturday's Grey Gardens festival at the Maysles Institute in Harlem. Clams reprised her Little Edie number for it; in one of those great New York connections, she did the number for the first time at Bambi the Mermaid's Grey Gardens show at Coney Island in the spring; the Maysles daughters were in the audience! At the Institute, she was filmed by the 82-year old Albert Maysles himself...performing as Little Edie.

Back from The Orleans, our new home away from home

This shot is by the terrific photographer Don Spiro; it's the burlesque legend Viva La Fever, returning to the stage in a go-go number with the San Francisco burlesque troupe the Devil-ettes. They kicked off the Friday night show at this year's Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend, and this image captures not only the spirit of that number but of the whole amazing weekend, without a doubt the best yet. Exhausting, emotional, exhilarating as always. For just a taste, here's a link to my pictures of the Weekend on flickr.
