And this week, it saved us from having to watch the damn Republicans
Something that only tennis nerds will care about: tonight's just-ended Roddick-Djokovic match marked the end of the USA Network's 25-year run of showing the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open and that network's constant, day and night coverage is a tremendously comforting end-of-summer ritual in our house, it's on pretty much all the time for two weeks. As the New York Times tennis blog notes in its brief eulogy, I doubt any other network (ESPN? Ugh.) will capture that same kind of "hey, this is what we're showing all night, crack open a beer and hit the couch, hang out with Johnny Mac" attitude. Sigh.
