September 12th thoughts

Last night we went downtown to the Seaport to see Absinthe at Speigeltent, thanks to Julie Atlas Muz....we had a lot of friends in the audience, including some visiting from Vegas, some from Scotland, so not just a great show, on the waterfront on a beautiful early fall evening, but an unexpected night out downtown with lots of friends. After the show, we all went up to the Slipper Room after midnight, in time for Julie and Tigger to perform their annual tribute to 9/11, an honestly beautiful and heartfelt moment on the stage. More friends there, a circle of warmth. And all with the tribute in light, the twin high-beam lights marking the spot where the towers once stood, shooting up into the cloudy night above all of us the whole night. It was really, absolutely the only way to mark that occasion; out with our adopted New York family doing what we all love, why we're all here.
