But here's a quick one...

The trailer, newly posted on Youtube, for the return of Pinchbottom Burlesque's ode to the Marx Brothers in January. If you missed this show last time around you owe it to yourself and not just because I'm in it...incidentally, the "burlesque" sign that makes a brief appearance in the trailer is actually on the outside of the Collective: Unconscious theater building, which was originally a famous burlesque house, originally shut down by Mayor LaGuardia's crackdown on adult entertainment decades ago. The sign remains as a vestige of its original life-and now it's home to New York's best neo-burlesque show!

Picking up the rental car in less than 48 hours...

...and I'm not the only one getting ready for the annual road trip!

So, it has been noted to me that December has been post light here; I'm trapped in "get everything done before leaving town for 10 days" mode...but I promise I'll be liveblogging my in-laws' couch next week!

Clams Casino's monthlong Dirty Thirty celebration continues!

1977 was a pivotal year in American popular culture, and there have been a lot of 30th anniversary celebrations this year...Star Wars, Annie Hall, Saturday Night Fever, and let's not forget Smokey and the Bandit, all came out in the theater...Elvis Presley died, the Son of Sam was arrested, the great New York City blackout, Studio 54 opened...the Clash, Sex Pistols, Talking Heads and Elvis Costello all released their first albums...and Clams Casino was born that December! In honor of that historic occasion, Clams has been celebrating her birthday, and the December birthdays of many of her burlesque compatriots, all month long with a series of big birthday shows. The biggest of them all was the celebration at the Slipper Room, check out photos of that night here. But the shared December birthday shows come to a close tonight at Wasabassco Burlesque in Brooklyn (click the flyer above to enlarge), and if you haven't had a chance to come out and hoist one in CC's honor, now's your chance! And then the holiday season can officially begin.
